You're busy, maybe really busy, but you love your family time
You want your children to know they are loved, just as they are
You recognize the beauty and meaning in everyday moments
You want to get in the picture, too

a few favorite photos from my childhood

You're in the right place

I'm honest, down to earth, and have been described as kind, fun, laid back and patient
(for some reason my family thinks the last two are funny).

Am I the photographer for you? Here's a bit more about me so we can get to know one another...

My storytelling style and artistic vision, and possibly my ability to make 3 year olds laugh, comes in part from my multipassionate background...all of which goes into every photo I make.

✺ years of studying and making all kinds of art, photography, dance, music, poetry, and prose

✺ a BA in anthropology/African studies, which gives me a unique understanding of human interaction and culture

✺ teaching all ages and designing curriculum as a Music Together teacher and NPS Park Ranger and in my own art and photography classes

After I embarked on the wild journey that is parenthood, photographs of our real life and moments with my children became even more important to me. But, even as a photographer, they weren't always easy to make.

There were the times I tried to get in the picture, including the single one out of a hundred photos from a family vacation when I handed the camera to someone else for a second. Plus a few impressive disasters at studios.
I wished there were someone to photograph all of us, the real us...and so...

Relaxed family photography was born.

I find fascinating stories in everyday humanness.

I've always loved storytelling and documentary photography, and enjoyed photographing friends and family this way.

I've enjoyed photography since I was 14 and my dad gave me a 35mm Pentax K1000--I'll let you guess how long ago that was. I’ve photographed families professionally for 10+ years, and I’ve been the mom of two wonderful and well-photographed boys for 21+ years.

Hi, I'm Diana

some of my favorite humans

I want to remember my family being themselves, having fun, and interacting with each other, not just posing for the camera.

Beautifully real family photography helps you remember your family,
as you are,
and how this time
in your life feels.

my vibe

I live in Northern VA but my heart lives in wild places--in NH, where I grew up, and in places I love to visit like the Adirondacks.

I hike, camp and kayak as much as I can. I've also been known to wade into a creek to get the photo--or just for fun!

I've been an artist and creative my whole life. I believe...

...that the creative arts are for everyone and that that spirit of creative problem solving is part of what makes us human.

...that children learn through play! (It's not bad for adults either.)

...that it's ok to get messy

I never pass up a chance to dance.

PS: You probably noticed I'm active and outdoorsy.
Got an active family?

life, the universe & everything

I'm a multipotentialite, which means I'm a jack of all trades, intensely curious, and love learning new things. I always have a few projects going on. I'm probably starting another as you read this.

I hope, like one mom once said, that you'll feel like you could hang out and have a glass of wine (or a juice box) with me. And the feeling will be mutual. After all, you're trusting me with the most valuable part of your life.

I love...

I see the beautiful, the funny, the poignant in everyday human moments. Life is short and filled with wonderful people and times I never want to take for granted or forget.

I'd love to help you enjoy and remember your amazing everyday.

The first step is to schedule a 15 min call. I've found this is the quickest and easiest way to get started, with no emails back and forth. No obligation. If we are a good fit we can book a session on the call.
